Today is January 1st, not just the first day of the new year, but also the day in which we perform that ceremonial task – establish our heart-felt resolutions.  We resolve to lose weight, we resolve to become better people, we resolve to go to church.  Whatever the objective is, we resolve to do better.

But I submit to you that we are doomed for failure just by the simple act of the word (or the lack of an act.)

The word RESOLVE means “to come to a definite or earnest decision about; determine (to do something).”

To resolve means to think about it, and contemplate it. IT DOES NOT SAY YOU MADE A DECISION!  IT DOES NOT IMPLY ACTION!  This is why so many are made, and so many fail.  A thought is developed, but no action is taken.

Therefore, going forward, let’s make New Years EVOLUTIONS!  Why you may ask?

EVOLVE is defined as “to develop gradually.”

Changing who you are is a gradual process.  It took us this many years to get in this situation, it will take some time and patience to work our way out.  The key to the process is that we make the committment, develop the plan, and work the plan.  Evolve also implies ACTION.  Action is what is needed to become that person you want to be.

Don’t just make a promise, commit an action to improve yourself and those around you.

To summarize:

1.  Evolve, don’t resolve.

2.  Action, don’t just think.

3.  Do, don’t just marinate

Have you started your EVOLUTION process? What actions will you put in place that will take you to where you want to go?

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone and Happy EVOLVING!!
