They Are Who They Are

There are people in our lives who we have high expectations and ambitions for.  We believe we see the potential in them and the greatness in them.  But there is only one issue…

They never produce and grow from their current position.

After a period of time, you have to come to the obvious conclusion…you are making them into someone who they are not.  Sometimes we will have higher expectations and goals for people than they have for themselves, and there is nothing wrong with that. But as the old saying goes…

You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.

Be careful to not make people more than who they are. This applies to their potential, their behavior, their demeanor, their ambition, etc.  When people show you who they are, you have to believe them.

Do you know people who you have higher expectations than they have for themselves?  Did you believe them or keep trying to make them someone they are not?
