Don’t Curse Your Blessing

I was in Cold Stone (it’s my weakness) the other day and I ordered one of their signature ice creams, plus added in a brownie.  After I paid for it, I looked at the receipt and realized that they did not charge me for the additional brownie.  I brought this to the attention of the worker and she was very relieved.

OH THANK YOU, THANK YOU SIR!

As big of a gesture as it was for her (her drawer would match the inventory), it was a bigger move for me.  What appears to be a small item (hey, it was only a brownie that cost $0.59) may actually impact your future.  I am a firm believer that this will impact your outcome and success.

IF GOD CAN’T TRUST YOU WITH WHAT YOU GOT, WHY WOULD HE GIVE YOU MORE?

As a leader, it is important to keep the focus on the vision of the project.  We can not sacrifice the total achievement of a goal through small “benefits” that are actually negatives.  Taking shortcuts, withholding the truth, or placing band aids on systemic issues will sabotage the success of the team.

Stay focused on what you are trying to achieve.  If you stay focused, this will keep your team on track.

Have you bypassed a small benefit to keep focused on the goal?  How did you handle it?

Kontinue to Konker.
